THEIR EXISTING RELATIONS. PARLIAMENTARIANS WAIT ON THE PREMIER. NON-COMMITTAL REPLY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A deputation of the members interested in securing a change in the existing relations lictwecri the State and the limik of New Zealand waited upon the Prime Minister to-day to urge that steps should be taken-! 1) To increase the State's interest in the llauk; (2) to provide that the Stale shareholders should share eipiallv with the private shareholders in the prnlits <>f the Rank; and (3) to secure concession* in regard to charges at present imposed on those persons using the Rank. Twenty-five members of the two branches of the Legislature were present, and several other members ill sympathy with the movement were absent on account of other engagements. Three speakers placed the views of the deputation hefore the Prime Minister on the lines of ] the scheme already published. A repre- j sentative of the country interests urged that the settlers should be treated with greater liberality hy the Hank. The Prime Minister replied that he and other members of the Ministry recognised the importance of the questions involved, lie indicated that lie did not support some of the more drastic proposals that had been made, but that the representations of the members would receive attention. An opportunity might arise to deal with the matter on the floor of the House. The members of the Legislature present at the 'deputation were the lions. T. Kelly. .1. Barr. .1. T. Paul, W. W.
