SWIMMING CONTEST. London, July 14. The following team has been selected after a trial race to represent Australasia in .the Olympic Games swimming contests for the championship of the world : Reginald Baker (Sydney), Beaurepaire (Melbourne), Springfield (Queensland), and Tartakover (Sydney). J. E. Cooke was chosen as reserve man.
THE WALKING CONTEST. London, .July 13.' In the 3500 metre walking contest, Farmer (Britain) was first, Webb (iiritain) second, and W. Kerr (Taranaki, N.Z.) third. Time, 14inin oasec. Rowlands lost his heat. Received loth, 10.18 p.m. London, July 15. Sheppard, an American, won the 1500 metres race in 4min 3 2-ssec. Lynch (New South Wales) was beaten in his heat. j Flaaagan (America) won tlje hammer throwing (170 feet), Tartakover having a bye. In the 400 metres swimming event Cooke, (New South Wales) was beaten in his heat Beaurepaire won his heat in smm 49sec.
