PENNY POSTAGE.
Received lath, 12.10 a.m. London, July 14. 'The Premier (Mr. Asquith), 'accompanied by Mr. Lloyd-George and Mr. Buxton (Postmaster-General), informed a deputation of Commoners that financial consideration prevented the adoption of penny postage with France. That would mean a loss of £82,000 a year. The extension to other European countries, which would inevitably follow, would involve a loss of £320,000 a year.
