Mr. Spencer Clapham, a candidate for the llawke's Bay seat, addressed a meeting of electors at Hastings lust night and declared himself a supporter of the Government (says a Press wire). The senior member of the Hastings Borough Council took the chair, as the Mayor was out of the town. Mv. Thompson is himself a candidate. There was a large attendance, and Mr. Clapham received a vote of thanks and confidence.
