With respect to the telegraph tines interrupted northward of Waiau, temporary repairs have beeu carried out, nut it will be some three weeks before the lines are permanently repaired. Lireat credit is due to Mr. 1!. Übery, lineman at W'aian, for the exertion made by him to restore communication during t'he recent very severe weather. He managed after great exertion to get two wires through us lav as Conway, Chough there were no fewer than one hundred breaks in seventeen miles owing to the heavy falls of snow. For two days he worked incessantly, though wet through all the time, having but little food. The snow fall was exceedingly heavy.
LOSSES ON THE TAIERI STILL ■ UNKNOWN. CLEARING THE HO ADS OF SNOW. | Dttnediii, Last Night. The Hoods are. rapidly subsiding at Taieri, but it is impossible to get particulars of losses yet. There is still about 4 feet of snow round Nascby. The Manitoto County Council put 50 men on to-day to clear the track to Eanfurly, a distance of about nine miles, and expected the work to he finished in about a week. There is a shortage of coal, kerosene, and butler in Nascby. The full service on the main south line was restored to-day, and the service was again opened to Eanfurly on the Otago Central.
