Special rate.—')'. Willcox wrote, stating thai the rate levied on Xo. 2 loan on Ngariki road was excessive, and therefore illegal. (Jones— Harvey I. 1 Mr. JX-egan was in favor of letting it lie on the table, as it had been well discussed in every place. Bullock Traffic—Resolved, That the by-law prohibiting bulwck traflic on the roads in the winter be rescinded. (Deegan—Warner). Members said that as a number of people use bullocks to earn a living, it was hard on them it they could not work them in the -winter. Ihaia road—W. Z. Wells waited on

Waroa road. -Mr. Harvey asked for some work on this road.—The forcnih. said he was going to attend to it next week. Outstanding rates.—Resolved, That all outstanding rates be sued for at once. (Deegan—Harvey). Sympathy.—Resolved, That the clerk write a letter ot sympathy to the chairman (Mr. Young) with rofcronoce to the accident in which he had his leg broken. (Warner— Deegan). Lower Arawhata road—Four settlers waited on the Board, and asked for particulars of the £SO which they 'had not been able to trace.—A letter from the Public Trustee was rend, which gave dates of "sums received, and upon searching the books, it was found that the £r>o which had been granted to the road in 1902 had not l)cen credited Xx) the road. Instead of the road having a debit of £l3 odd, that sum ' would (live it a credit of nearly ,£H7.— Resolved, That the road be credited with the amount.—Tlie deputation said they were now satisfied with the\ position.—Mr. Knowles attended and gave information vn the subject, for which he was thanked.
