WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD
(From Our Own Correspondent). At the monthly meeting of the above Board there were present: Messrs S. Tunihull (chairman), Connett, Smith, and Western.
CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read from i\lv. V. Lounsboi'ougli, resigning his position as collector of the vVortley road ton gate. From Department of Roads, asking for the length of district roads and bridges. From Messrs. Smith and Fawcctt, offering the sum of £.lB for land on Kelly road deviation. FOREMEN'S REPORTS. Surfaceman Paul reported that the cost of grading roads with the road grader had been:—-Richmond, 02 chains by 30 feet, !>s per chain; Ackworth road, 25 chains by 25 feet, fls per chain; Corbett and Munutahi West roads, III) chains by 25 feet, as 3d per chain; and Pennington road, 47 chains by 25 feet, 3s lOd per chain. Ho also reported that Richmond road had been repaired and three chains of the Wortley road rc-cOated. The remainder of the month had been engaged getting gravel. Surfaceman Palmer reported that the Waitara, Kelly, and Te Arei roads ban been repaired. Wire had been procured for fencing drain on Matarikonko road. The pipes for culvert On Karaka road had not been delivered. During the remainder of the he had been occupied in cleaning water tables and getting out (Travel. GENERAL. 11V. Lonnsborough's resignation of the toll gate was accepted, and Mr. Stack'hurski was appointed. The general rate of one-halfpenny_ 1.1 the pound was struck for the ensuing year.
