Comment, l.li'.in.llllil quarters; Atlantic sliipiuents, JSUJIUI) quarters; Pacific shipments. 3-J,(K)O quarters. The total quantity imported into Europe during tile week was 71)5.000 quarters, including 271.1HH) quarters from Argentine and lirimuay. '
iSvdnev, .Inly 7. The Flour Aliliers' Association" has reduced the price of Hour to Jl'J 5s per ton.
E. CiRIPFI-THS &, Co.'* REPORT. Alessrs. K. (irilliths & Co. are in receipt of the following market, report from their Loudon principals. Messrs Jlills & Sparrow, dated Alav i>nd:-
AVeather has boon much brighter and there has been a fair amount of suushine. All who are engaged in outdoor occupations ar<» much more cheerful."
Danish.—Quotation has been advanced one kroner. .Market is very much steadier and there is belter tone all round.
(Siberian—Quality is again puor, tlavo of most of the dairies being faulty. ' French.—Fresh (uncalled} rolls are reduced (id per dozen, baskets both mi-' salted and salted I -.'s to 4s per cwt. Trade has been fairly" good and quality is pleasing. Irish.—A great improvement is to be reported ou quality; many retailers are now working this* for their best. The quantity is also increasing rapidly, and reports say pastures are in good condition.
Australian.—The shipment per Asturias is cleared, and that by the Ortoua is now being dealt with. The latter vessel carried apples, and most of the brands of hutter on board have suffered more or less through "apple taint." The surveyors for the various interests are at work, but up to the time of writing we have not heard of any settlements being made.
New Zealand.—The Rimutaka is now due, and the few butters on board will no doubt lie quickly absorbed at full rates.
, There has Iron more life in the trade and a shortage is again being felt. Last at this tjnie, butter was accumulating and quite a few were going into store. Now we have practically clear hoards, and it will surprise ns if many are pnjjaway for any length of time. This should help us very much in October or before, as retailers must then come straight away on to the colonial as it arrives.' It is, of course, really early to say what prices will rule, but everything points to the Continental and Home butters being consumed quickly, so that good prices should rule in addition to there being a good demand. Our feeling is that the coining season will be a good one for Australasian butter.
Cheese.—Canadian: .Sales l of new make have been sold at 54s c.i.f. The s,s. Latoma, with 18,0(10 to IfI.OOO on board, has become a total wreck. This loss will help to steady the market, but there is no disposition on the part of buyers to take in any stock. Xew Zealand: White is in sniall supply and demands a slight premium over coloured, which is not selling as readily as agents wish, and prices on the week are in buyers' favour.
