Kvcr since his marriage to Princess Ena of Battonburg, the young King lias been a popular figure in Great ISritian. There are numberless stories/ told about the happy life of the youthful pair,some of which are somewhat ailiusing. To tliis category the following anecdote doubtless belongs; ■ During their last visit'to England, King Alfonso was out /hooting with King Edward, Queens Alexandra and Ena looking on from a motor-ear. Presently King Alfonso, in the excitement of the moment, stripped oil' his coat. The weather was bitterly cold, and his eonsort sent an attendant to ask him to put it on again. To this appeal the King tinned a deaf ear, as also to another which followed
Then, to the amusement of the onlookers—and particularly, it is said, to the delight of King Edward—Queen Ena was seen lo descend from the motor-ear and start oft towards her erring husband. The faithful (?) chronicler hera adds the statement that at this point King Edward whispered: '• Look out; she is coming!" At all events, when King Alfonso saw his Queen approaching lie made haste to resume the discarded garment, whereupon the Queen returned to her seat in the motor-ear with a quietly-satisfied smile.
