SEVEN YJiAltß' HAItD LABOK. By Telegraph"—-Press Association. Nelson, Last Night. The W'estport murder trial concluded late to-night, when the jury returned a verdict of guilty of manslaughter against accused, Olaf llalinen and Anders Anderson.
Both prisoners addressed the Court, maintaining their iunoccne". They had not known Jlourke, the murdered man, tiiey said, and Connelly, the principal Crown witness, (hey had only become acquainted with since the trial commenced.
Mr. Justice Chapman said the accused had been convicted on the corroborated; and unshaken testimony of Connelly of a brutal crime. Anderson, the older nf the two, was the more guilty in that lie stood liv and did not attempt to •restrain llalinen, who kicked deceased utter he was on the ground. The sentence of the Court was that each accused be kept to hard labor for seven years.
