THE EDUCATION PROBLEM.
DENOMINATIONAL COLLEGES. A VIVENDI ARRANGED. > Received 20th, 11.20 p.m. London, June 29. Mr. Runcimim, President of the Board of Education, and the Anglican training colleges have arranged a twelve months' vivendi for admitting non-Anglicans to colleges under the conscience clause, to the extent of one half the vacant places. The Chronicle predicts that the Church will gain nothing by this limited atceptancc of no tests. If she went further, she would increase her strength and influence with the nation. The Times doubts if the demand for such vaconcies will be equal to the supply, and congratulated Mr. Runcimau on modifying his predecessor's regulations. Extremists oil either side are likely to object to the vivendi, but the ordinary man will rejoice that the colgos arc ready to try an experiment which presents an increasing probability of the settlement of the larger question.
