By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A ballot for lands, mostly in the Puni district, took place to-day. For six blocks there were 7H5 applicants, those successful being A. Williams,. B. 11. Budden, Ed. Elliot, M. Murtugh, M. Lainb, and W. G. Tinkler. ; Christchurch, Last Night. The examination of applicants for the Oulwrden Estate sections by the Canterbury Land Board closes to-night. Eighty applicants were rejected on examination and It! for failing to appear. Eight applications were withdrawn, and twelve were informal. Six hundred and fifty-seven go to the, ballot, which takes place at 18 o'clock to-morrow morning.
