PALMERSTON WINTER SHOW.
THIRD DAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. I'almerst.on N., Last Night. There was very wet weather for the third day of the Show to-day, hut notwithstanding the fact the attendance was again large. A large number of school children attended from between Turanaki and Wellington, to whom instructive addresses were given by Messrs. Kirk and Gibbie 011 grasses and farm roots respectively. Mr. Hyde, of the Government Poultry Department, gave a demonstration of force-feeding poultry.
Two football matches were played during the afternoon under the Victorian code, in which Wellington defeated a combined Taihape and Utiku team by 2.1 to 18.
At Kughy Lincoln College were, defeated by palmerstou juniors by ltl to 3. Mr. Gnddie, Dairy Commissioner, who returned this week from Europe, gave a ei y interesting address to largelvattended meeting of dairymen on his investigations 1 ' in England,' giving some valuable advice on how to foster trade and generally dealing exhaustively with our trade with the Home markets and its possibilities!
The annual meeting of the New Zealand Sheep-breeders' Association wis also held, at. which it was resolved to recommend breeders to reduce their tloe';s by writing off 10 per cent, of til 'ir 'yOung ewes mid r, per cent, of older sheep for death and other causes. A largely attended smoke concert, was held in the evening, presided over bv the president.
