In .Tapan, again, kissing was not known until the influence of America was felt in the island. The Mohammedan pilgrims when they ranch "Mecca, kiss the four black stones at the corners of the Kaaba. Kissing, too, is part of the ceremony of the Roman Catholic Church. In remote ages the Christian bishops gave their hands to he kissed by the lesser clergy. Although this custom is discontinued, it is still habitual for subjects to kiss itheir monarch's bands as a token of submission and loyalty. This is regarded as a very high mark of honour,in most Furopcan countries. Storiettes. A curious railway is that between Kroiistadt and Oranicnliaum. Only available in winter, it is laid upon the ice.
