ACTION AGAINST "TRUTH."

An action of more than ordinary interest was heard at the Supreme Court before Mr. Justice Denuiston to-day, when Charles Boxhall claimed from Adolf Schlesinger the sum of £SOO damages in respect of a libellous article appearing in the May 2nd issue of the weekly paper Truth, published in Wdlington, copies of which issue were ivculated by the defendant. The case was heard before iiis Honor and a special jury, and a verdict for £IOO was returned.

Timaru, Last NighJ, The Timaru Presbytery met the congregation at St. Andrew's last night to ascertain the wishes of the congregati;»i regarding the minister, Rev. J. O. Chappie who, as telegraphed some time ago, was asked to resign. Tile church ksi* crowded and feeling was stronglv in favor of retention of the minister.' A vote was taken and resulted, 11 for and 7 against. The Presbytery resolved unanimously, in view of the opinion of the meeting, to take no further action in the matter.
