FIRES.

By Telegraph.— Press Association. Nelson, Last Night. A fire occurred at seven o'clock this morning in a building of six shallow storeys used by Frederick Savery as a manufactory for patent leather. l"ie upper storeys were demolished before tile lire was extinguished. The building was insured for CMO in the Commercial Union, and the stock and plant weie covered by a lloating policy in the Victoria Coy., but the amount is not ascertainable. Savery, however, is a considerable loser. This building was erected as a brewery sixteen years ago. Much annoyance was caused at the time to the Wesleyan Methodist body through the »rched windows of an old church being put into the building, which in consequence was referred to as "Tile Wesleyan brewery."
