CROWN LANDS BALLOT.

At the frown Lauds ollice vesterdav corning a ballot was conducted for i'j sections, totalling 14,747 acres <£ Crown lands, in the Utuuiii block.' This block is situated between Taumartinui and Matn-e and Jlangaroa, the western boundary being about eleven miles from -Uangatoa, and the eastern lwuudarv about live miles from Taumaruiuii. The northern portiun is about ten miles from Jlatire-six miles formed drayroad, remainder walking track. From lauiiiaiuiiui via Kurura road the block by a good horse track. It will also -be accessible from the steamer landing ou the W'angauui river l.v tlie Otuuui road, when formed, or the distance from .Maiigaroa via Oliuia and UaiUangata roads, nine miles i= dray road, the remainder walking track. The ballot resulted in all but live sections being taken up, and these were applied for during the afternoon.
