A MYSTERIOUS CASE.

ACCIDENT OR ATTEMPTED MURDER? Per Press Associattim Wellington, Last Night. Mr Henry Hill Beckett, a civil servant, who resides at Creswick, was found lying on the Orangi-Kaupapa road leading to Northland in an unconscious state at about half-past nine last night. There was a wound on his head, and a pool of blood had formed close to where he was found. Dr. Bcgg was summoned to a house to which Mr. Hill Beckett was conveyed, and, on his recommendation, the injured man was taken to the hospital, where he is in a wry serious condition. The case is surrounded with some mystery. Mr. Hill Beckett may have fallen over a bank and injured his head, or lie may have been assaulted.
