ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

FATALITY AT OKATO. A fatal accident occurred at Okato on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. D. F. Greenway, of l'uniho, had been attending Hie funeral of a neighbor (the late Mr. J. Carpenter), and when returning his horse shied, throwing him from the {jig. Mr. Grecnway was found to have received extensive injuries to the head. Dr. Walker proceeded to Okato with all possible speed, and found that Mr. Greenway had sustained a very serious fracture of Hie skull, and no hope was entertained of his recovery. Death ensued a few hours alter. Mr. John Hall, of Midhirst, met with I a serious accident on Tuesday afternoon. He had been driving, and was in the act of getting out of the trap when lie slipped and fell to the ground. When picked up he was found to be paralysed. IJe was promptly removed to the Stratford hospital, and on inipiiry on Thursday morning the Post learned that there was no improvement in his condition. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. M r James Longton, nigblwalehnian at Hie General l'« s t OHiee, who fell downstairs last night, died in the bosp.ta this evening. The deceased was about (ill years of a"e and had been eight or nine years employed at the Post Office. He was well-known in bowling circles, i being a well-known local skip.
