The Auckland Association wrote accepting 4tli July for the challen-e match with Tnrannki at Auckland, the date ! '"'lug eon/irnied by the New Zealand Association. Canterbury wrote that if Tarauaki were successful against Auckland, Canterbury ,vould play Taranaki for the Shield at New Plymouth on Thursday 9th July, and play Auckland on 11th July; but if Auckland retained the Shield, the Taranaki-Canterburv match could not he played until after the Auckland match.
[ Utters were received from the . Thames, Wanganui, flawke's Hay, mid ' Wellington Associations stating that an endeavor would lie made to send teams ; to Taranaki during the present season. An application was received from the Ingleivood Club for the translcr of .). ami K. Turner from the Kia Ora to the Inglcwood Club. Mr. (irahaw (Kia (Ira) stated that he hau hceu instructed to oppose the application. Neither player hail received his clearance from the Kia Ora Club, and He also understood it was not the wish of Ji. Turner to be transferred. The tone of the meeting was against the transfer. The lollowmg resolution wa 3 then put and carried:— "Thai in the opinion of this meeting it is undesirable that the applications be granted.'' On the motion ot the chairman it was resolved to record the following on the minute.-.:—"That in the opinion of this Association it is undesirable that transfer..* of members from one club to another be permitted during the currency of the playing season unless in bona tide of removal from the district in which a player hud been residing." Messrs. 11. )i. Anderson. ,). K. Avery, and !•'. Kobcrtsoit were appointed selectors- of A and H teams to play a trial match at Inglcwood on Thursday. 18th duly. .Mr. Anderson will be asked to make the final selection after the above match. A practice match, representative team v. another eleven, will be played at New Plymouth on the following Thursday, 25th duly. The representative team will leave for Auckland on Ist or 2nd duly. Club secretaries will be asked to forward to the secretary of the Association the names of all players wifliiig to travel to Auckland. It wn* decided to play the two postponed matches from the first round— Hawora v. Stratford at Stratford, and New Plymouth v. Inglewood at Inglewood, on Kith and 11th dune respectively.
