The pointsman at Kllerslie station stated at the inquest that he saw Williams, who was on the platform as the train was passing, rush to the edge of the platform. Witness seized Williams' coat and a struggle ensued, the coat coming oil'. Williams fell under the engine, and the tender passed over him. The jury returned a verdict that deceased committed suicide while temporarily insane. Oamaru, Tuesday. ilolm Nicholson, blacksmith, of Maheno, was found in a dying state in a shod near his houSe with a breech-loader beside him and blood issuing from his mouth. He died during the morning. He was til) years of age. lie was confined some time ago in a mental home. Lately he had been despondent. Duiiedin, Last Night. A man named Geo. Wright, laborer, iiO years of age, who resides at Green Island, was killed to-ilav at 5 p.m. by having his head crushed between a truck and a dirt lip at Mosgicl. Wellington, Last Night. William Smith, ten years of age, son of llr. William Smith, of Palmcrston, was found unconscious in iliis" uncle's stable at Brooklyn to-day, with his skull fractured. It is supposed he was kicked by a horse. The lad is now jn the hospital in a serious condition.
