Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A middle-aged man named Hoes Williams, whose identity lias not yet been established, threw himself in front of a swiftly-moving goods train at Ellersjie thi s evening, and sustained fearful fixjuries, from which he died in twenty minutes.

AUnlst working in the gravel pit near the septic lank yesterday morning, savs the Stratford Post, the borough foreman, Mr. T. Roberts, mot with it very serious accident, which necessitated his' lemovul to the hospital. A quantity of gravel came down unexpectedly, knocking Roberls against a bullock dray which was being filled. When picked up it wan found that Roberts' head had come-in violent contact with the drav, rendering linn unconscious. Dr. C'nrberv was im° mediately telephoned for, and on his arrival ordered the injured man's remowil to the hospital. Mr. Roberts' condition was critical yesterday afternoon. Mr. W. R. Aldridge, employed \,j Messrs Chard and (ireen on their stoneerushing plant in Fenton street, Stratford, met with rather a painful accident on Friday afternoon. Ho was engaged in sawing some wood by the aid of n steam saw, when, through some unaccountable cause, (he wood slipped, and his left band came in contact with the saw.
