During that time Andersen did not leave him, and Halinen was only absent for a few minutes twice. Jiobb, a sailor of the Canopus, said ho saw accused at the hotel about he time the murder was alleged to have taken place, al«o later at a fish shop, and described the light, in which he stated Halinen took part with three stewards of the Tallinn, finishing up with a further row on Hie wharf. Witness added that he <aw one of the stewards with, he believed, a black eve. It is alleged by the defence that the light with tiio stewards was what accused described on the Saturday following Itourke's death and that the remarks were niistakeivbly understood to refer to Ilourko. The defence is still proceeding.
