There were a number of passengers from Russell, and the cargo consisted eliiolly of oysters. 'fliii Muritai was an j r on steamer of 225 tons gross, and was lmill at Paislev (Scotland) in 18S4. She traded on the Australian const for some years, and in 18H7 was purchased by the Northern Company. This makes the second vessel the Northern Company has lost during the past twelve months, tile other vessel being the Kia Orii.
