ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

A LOIUIY FATALITY. Per Tress Association. Auckland, Wednesday. Alexander Miller, who was seriously injured in a runaway yesterday, died at the hospital. DETERMINED SUICIDK Ashburtou, Wednesday. Walter Drewer, single, aged &>, a ploughman on Lougbeach Estate, was found dead in a wharo this morning. It is believed that he committed suicide by shooting himself, but particulars are not to band.

Ashburtou, Last Kiglit. Further particulars regarding th« death of Walter Drewer show that deceased was found on the floor of his whare fully dressed, excepting his feet, which were narked. A double-barrelled gun containing a discharged cartridge was found in close proximity, and all appearances went to show that deceased had outstretched himself on the floor, ami, l'i'ving placed the muzzle of the gun in hii mouth, had succeeded in pulling the trigger with one of his bare toes, with fatal results. An inquest will be held to-morrow. This is the third case of suicide in the country within the past three weeks. THROWN FROM A TRAP.

A serious accident occurred on Tu° s ' day afternoon about 4.30 o'clock,, reports the Stratford Post. Mr. J. Breen, of Bird road, was just returning from Stratford, and was within a few chains of home when he was violently thrown out of his trap and sustained serious spinal injuries, the spine being broken just below the neck. He was picked up by Mr. M. Gernhoefer, who was passing at the time the unfortunate man fell out of the back of the trap on his head. He was carried to his house and Dr., Paget summoned. On his arrival the doctor ordered Mr. Breen's removal to the Stratford Hospital. Mr. Charles M'ioods, butcher, of Stratford, states that he was driving along the Skinner road when he was attracted by a horse | and trap coining along at a furious rate in the opposite direction. 110 tried to stop the animal's mid career, but could not do so. Yestrday morning Father Treacy drove out and brought the unfortunate man to the Stratford Hospital. He was perfectly conscious, but totally paralysed.
