TARANAKI POULTRY SOCIETY

An extraordinary general meeting of the above Society was held in the Town Hall last night. Mr. S. Teed presided, and there wafl a fair attendance of members. The secretary staled that the meeting had been called on account of the majority of the committee having re--igned, and to lake steps to re-organise the management. The chairman said that very little interest had la-en taken ill the Society's' affairs for some time past and tire, meeting had been called to liven things up. The Xorth Island Poultry Association notilied that the Taranaki Society would have to give up one of the four championships at present held by them. JI, would be for the Taranaki'Society to decide which one they would forfeit. .Mr. Crish moved, and Mr. Brooke seconded, that Aylesbury ducks should be given ii)i.—Carried. A discussion took place as to whether if was advisable t„ hold a three days' show,- -Mr. Teed thought that it would l.ne-.tn the birds being in the cages toil long. It was finally decided lu hold n two days' show.

The foWwing olliccrs were elected: Pali'on, the Mayor (Mr. G.Tiseh); president, Mr. S. Teed; vice-presidents, Messrs. K. Doekrill, (J. Kyngdnn, and Dr. Foiiki-s; committee, Messrs Brooks. Crish. Bennett. J. llttrle, Sand ford, it. Davidson, and W. Boulton. Mr W. Heals is to he askad to retain the. .position of caretaker of the Society's plant. Mr. Coodarre asked if a class were to be provided for the American laying strain of Leghorns. He thought this class would draw very fair entries, ami that it would be a good thing to provide a class for canaries for lady competitors, as many who would not com pete in open classes would do so if n special class wen- provided.—Kel'errei to the committee.
