THE MINISTER FOR LANDS. ' Per Press Association. Dannevirke, Last Night, The Hon. McNab, Minister for Lands, visited Dannevirke to-day for the purpose of meeting residents regarding the requirements of the district. He visited the rifle range. In reference to the request of volunteers for an extended area and facilities, he agreed to consider the provision of a further tea acres. Longford, Last Night. Tin' Premier, accompanied by Lady n'ard and Messrs R. On the way up the Bulln- Valley, the Premier received a numicr of 'deputations. He was received lM c by the brass band and the school ,hil,l.en drawn up fh line. There wm a law assembly of the inhabitants, although the district is sparsely settled, and only one day's notice was given. Lai or the Premier and party were entertained at a social. The large hall was crowded. In response to the toast of til? Ministry, the Premier delivered a speech that was received with the greatest enthusiasm, and the audience appreciated keenly the opportunity of listening to the head of the Government The Premier gave interesting particulars of the development of tt» West Coast by the large areas of land nut in to the market, and _said from one part alone forty million feet of timber were being exported annually, while there was sufficient timber on tne Coast to keep up the same rate of supply for sixty-nine years. The speaker remarked upon the evidence of progress ne observed throughout the district since his previous visit, six years ago. The speech was mainly devoted to pointing out the advantages the Dominion possessed and the change that bad come about in its condition financially, and he emphasised strongly the importance of paving increased attention to securing outside markets for produce and Imperial trade preference.
