A PAINFUL CASE FROMbdRKTCHURCH. ~
FILIAL INDIFFERENCE.
Ver Press Association, Ohristchurch, Last Night. One of the most painful cases investigated for some years in Christchureh occupied the attention of the Coroner this altcrnoon. On Monday the sudden, death ol an elderly women named Mrs. Margaret Kobinson, a widow, residing at Sydenham, was reported to the police. A sergeant and constable proceeded to the cottage to remove the body to the morgue, and discovered a condition of aflair« that for filth and sijualor could hardly be imagined. The liody lay in a bed in m, jndeseribaMc condition, while the bedclothes were simply awful with filth. The son and daughter of the deceased gate evidence that Hie mother injured her back three weeks ago and had been in bed ever since, but no doctor was called in. -Medical evidence was given to the elleet that death was due to pleurisy and advanced pneumonia, but that tll'c woman'* life could have been saved with care and attention. After a short retirement the jury returned a verdict that deceased had'died I mill pneumonia, death being accelerated by gross neglect on the part of her son and daughter.
