THE AMOKURA BOYS.

Per Press Association. j Wellington, Last Night. The training ship Amokura returned to her usual anchorage off Tliorndon during the night. She has been absent in the North foursome months, chielly in the Hauraki Gull. The Amokura visited Tolagoa Bay, Gisborne, and Napier on her way south, and tlie lads were hospitably received wherever they put in. She made the journey South under canvas for the most pan, and the boys worked the ship. There are 7(1 all told on board, and 60 of them are boys. Captain Hooper, who is In command, brings the youthful crow into the home port in a first-class state, ,of t health, and the vessel is the pink of cleanliness and good Order, whi.-h speaks much for the boys and those who have charge of them. That the iVin;okur a is too small for the purposed of a training ship was demonstrated again and again during the cruise. Mr. Townley, the Mayor of Gisborne, who visited the vessel when she was in Poverty Bay, expressed himself highly pleased with the boys' appearance, and lie took the opportunity of giving them a little helpful advice upon making tlie best of their chances, of learning discipline and (Obedience, which would he oi incalculable use to them in after years.
