THE BLACKBALL STRIKE.

CASES AGAINST THE MIXERS. PROTEST FROM THE UNION. Per Press Association. Grcymouth, Last Night. There is a good deal of indignation expressed in Blackball over the issue of summonses by Mr Isbell, Inspector of Factories, notifying that he will apply for a n order under section 101 of the -Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1905, against the members of the Blackball Miners' Union on Monday at Auckland. At a meeting of the Union held to consider the matter, the following resolution was carried and wired by the president to Judge Sim, Messrs S. Brown and J. A. McCullough, members of the Arbitration Court. ~1 Auckland: "As president of the Blackball Miners' Union, on behalf of the Union, we protest and object to an application made by the Inspector of Factories being heard at Auckland on Monday next outside the Westland industrial'district, for an order directing the payment by the individual members of the Union of any portion of the fine of £75 levied on tile Union. We wish to submit points showing that the Court has no jurisdiction to order individual members In pay any portion of the line inflicted. The time allowed for appearing at Auckland is insufficient, and we cannot afford the expenses of travelling there.—(Signed) If. J. Fox, president of the Blackball Miners' Union." CASES TO COME UP ON MONDAY. PROBABLE ADJOURNMENT. Auckland, Saturday. In connection with the Blackball strike an application is to be made to the Arbitration Court on Monday to substitute orders against the individual membeft of the Union for the order against the Union. Mr. Mays, representing the Crown, said to-day that in all probability an application would be made on behalf of the Labor Department to defer, .the hearing of the application for a few days to give them the opportunity of perusing the documents and ascertaining the intention of the other side. Mr. Justice Sim asked if the workers would be represented. Mr. Mays replied that probably thev would.
