THE CIVIL SERVICE.
Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Mr. J. Strauchon, Commissioner of Crown Lands, who is being transferred to Auckland, was this afternoon made the recipient of a valuable tea and coffee service by the officers of the local Lands Office. Mr Llewellyn Smith, chief draughtsman, made the presentation. Mr. Strauchon was also presented with another token of esteem at to-day's meeting of the Land Board. On beiiai of the members, Mr. lleese, as senior member, presented the departing Commissioner with a travelling bag. Mr. Smith, who has been chief draughsman in Wellington for some time, is retiring under the superannuation scheme. He took his leave to-day, but before quitting the office he was presented by Mr. Strauchon, 011 behalf of liis fellow workers, with a Souvenir.
