Sir. Alfred Nathan said that it was stated that the circulation of these dirty notes had caused a great deal. of ' sickness amongst the poorer classes. The chairman, 51 r. J. B. inonied classes. Mr. Nathan: "The moneyed classes won't take notes." Many of the notes now in circulaton were, he said, in a disgraceful slate, and the attention ol j the" Health Department should be drawn to the matter. Mr. Groves Aicken said that diseases, particularly skin diseases, might very easily be 'spread by means of these notes. It was stated that the Health Department already had the subject in hand. It was decided to give tile Department a reminder on the matter and also to notify the Taranaki Chamber of Auckland's willingness to co-operate wards attaining the desired end.
