At the iii(|iies!t respecting the death on the previous day of William Allenworth Lewis, a laborer, aged 49, residing at llazeldcan road, Addington, it was stated tnat tlie deceased, who bore a high character and w-a.» greatly respected, was formerly a member of the police force, lmt retired voluntarily to enter into business, the non-success of ulnch had evidently preyed upon his mind. The man's wife related that, he had been strange in his manner for several days. The jury returned a. verdict that deceased committed suicide by poisoning while in a state of unsound mind.
