THE STRANDED TAVIUNI.
Per Press Association. Westport, Last Night. A party of seamen, working under Cii|itain ijnwctte, master of the KoiimLii, succeeded to-day in getting nu anchor out from the l Taviuni. to hold her in liw present position pending operations to ie-lloal. the vessel. The' Penguin arrived this afternoon with all gear for such operations. Mr. Daniels, who is in charge of the dotation work, visited the scene of the strundiug this afternoon, and is prepar ing his plans. PROSPECT OF FLOTATION FAVORABLE. Westport, Lust Night. In connection with the stianiieo I'aviuni, a heavy anchor and cable was laid to-day to keep the vessel in her present position. The water is too high on board to allow of steam being got up, but Mr. Daniels anticipates getting a donkey engine aboard to-morrow, and pumping out the water. As far as can lie ascertained, the water has jfoi in through the ports. There does not appear to be other damage, and the chances of Dotation are considered favorable.
