TOURIST ROADS.

Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. [ One result of the recent visit paid by the Hon. Dr. Findlay to lloforua, has been to convince him that better communication with, at any rate, some of our great thermal regions is iei|uiied. To a Herald representative, the .Minister said: "1 think we must sooner or later provide means of reaching Wairakei and Taupo more ca.sily and speedily than at present. There seems no doubt* but that the Geyser Valley at Wairakei, contains a liner concentration of thermal sights than any part of the whole island, yet only a small number of tourists find their way there or to Taupo. When the Jlaiu Trunk line is completed, there should be some ea.sy communication made between the main line .-.net Tokaanui, enabling southern visitors to come up via Taupo and Wairakei on to Itotorua, and thence to Auckland, an enabling northern or Auckland visitors to proceed from Kotorua on to the -Main Trunk via Taupo, and either back to Auckland by the main line or via the Wanganui river. The expense of providing either a good road or a light railway between the Alain Trunk and Tokaanui would not be very great and as the traffic increases 1 have no doubt tins proposal will impress itself on t; Government."
