THE PREFERENCE QUESTION.
TRADE Willi LIVERPOOL. i/mdon, April 23. I Mr. T. Price, Premier of South Australia, addressing the members of the Liverpool Produce Exchange, said: —"lf the merchants of Liverpool would give South Australians more for theiiproduce than they are getting in London they would send direct to Liverpool, and we would smash up all the economies of the world by giving a bonus from the subsidy to induce ship* to come to Liverpool." (Applause). He added that they would som'e day understand tlw wisdom of giving Australia some kind of preference. Australia certainly intended to offer the British people'preference in trade matters. EFFECT OF "AUSTRALIAN CON- I CESSION. London, April 23. & correspondent of the Daily Telegraph averts that as a result of the "Australian Parliament's decision to give five per cent, pretwence to Britain in the electrical fittings trade, a company at Hammersmith has engaged eight, hundred additional hands.
