NEW PLYMOUTH FIRE BRIGADE.
ANNUAL MEEIIMi. The 'annual meting of the aWve waa held at the Onrtal Station last nigm, Captain F. Bellringer in the chair. IllCnt; may years much valuable property lias been saved and protection afforded to the citizens of our town. The plant ii in drat-claw condition, and during the year we have improved the hfwe reel in the Eastern station by having tile »heels_ rubber tyred, which ia much appreciated" by the members of that station. Following the uSual custom, with the kind assistance of the ladies of New Plymouth, under the presidency of the Mayorewi (Mrs. Dockrill), the ball was held, and from the proceeds we have juat kept the accounts balanced, and to them our beat thanks are due. The doling of thi* year ends the existence of the brigade under the old order oi working, for thi* month the Fire Brig ades Act eame into operation, and it i» confidently expxted that the Fire Board, under whom we now are, will have every reasoa to be satisfied with the brigade. We may hare accomplished much in the past, but with our finances assured we hope to attain an even higher state of efficiency. In .conclusion I deaire to thank the officers and men for the ready assistance accorded me all the year, and to expreea the hope that the happy relationship which has existed for over 23 years, as a member, and over 12 years a* yt)ur chief officer, may continue through the years to come. The following appuinlments were made:—Central foreman, Fireman J. Roberts; West foreman, Fire J. Johnstone; East foreman, Fireman -1. <|arke; ladder carriage foreman. Fireman X. Partington; secretary, Fireman 11. Ford; treasurer, Captain Bell ringer; executive committee, Firemen Sadler and Tempero, and Officers ex-officio; auditors, Firemen Way and Moverley. All the officers were re-elected. The following appointments were made, to >»' recommended to the Fire li v.. . Bnnation:—Central custodian, iucmau J. Way; East custodian, Fireman G. Lambert; anb-superintendeut. Lieutenant Boob. The aamadl dinner was laid -u!j-c----qoentlv. The report wilt appear tomorrow.
