Shortly after the accident the brakes were tested, and disclosed ample braking power, and the brakes were in good order. Tiie driver 011 tire Bendigo train states that the brakes worked satisfactorily. Mr. 'fait added that clear signals were burning properly. As the Bendigo line was straight for more than three mil is west of Sunshine, and there were no obstructions, the engineinan 011 the. approaching train should have had a clear I view of the signals.
