GOVERNMENT LAND POLICY.
0INTERVIEW WITH ME. McNAJI
Per Press. Association. Ashburton, Last Night. In an interview here, the Minister for Lands said there was a great demand for the S3 years' renewable lease, and he was confident the increase of the graduated land tix encouraged sub-divi-sion, owners recognising that sub-divi-sion of their properties was a thing that could not be indefinitely delayed. It was only the phenomenal profit from •stock-raising of late years that enabled them to hold on- He believed that for the next few years the land market would be easier, and allow the Government buying for cash and selling on easier terms. Concluding, he said: •'Settlement of the hind along the lines upon which we are going appears to be the best method which has been suggested for the distribution of wealth among the people, so that we contend that our policy in regard to the distribution of wealth is wrapped up in our laud police, and any solution of one is equally the solution of the other. That is, settling of the country along our lines means the advancement of industry in the towns."
