Trior to that date an appeal had been issued liy tie bishop of that diocese for aid in missionary work, and in reply two jiersons, or, rather, as the prosecution alleged, one persons—viz., the accused, using the two nmiics of Tyler and Kodstone—had applied to go out as missionaries. At that time the accused was helping as a layman at St. Mark'; .Mission Church, Hammersmith.

At the same time the prisoner was endeavoring to be ordained bv the Bishop of Southwark, letters Mniihir to those received by the Archbishop being sent, and the name of the Itev. Air. White being used in the same way.
