ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association, Christehurch, Wednesday, Albert Donald McKay, aged 7 years, son of Donald McKay, of Le Bon's Bay, while attempting to climb over Bome rocks dislodged a boulder which pinned him to the ground. He died from the injuries.
Christehurch, Last Night.
The circumstance surrounding the doath of Sidney Cadle, stock auctioneer for Dalgety and Co., who succumbed to injuries received by being run over by a tramway locomotive last night, were investigated at an inquest this afternoon. William Deck, tram inspector, stated he saw deceased run in front of an approaching engine, about ten yards away. He shouted, but deceased did not appear to take any notice. Other witnesses said deceased when crossing seemed to change his mind and hesitate. He was knocked down by the tram pulling up at the time. A verdict of accidental death was returned. An inquest was held touching the death of John Templeton, killed by being run over by a gig in Oxford Terrace on Monday. Contradictory evidence was given relative to the position of the gig at the time of the accident. A verdict was returned that Templeton met his death through injuries, the Result of being run over by a gig, driven on the wrong side of the road. A rider was added that. Whithrock, the driver of the gig, when in that position, did all he could to avert the accident.
Gore, Last Night. John Burke, a farmer residing at Kaiwera, near Gore, met with a fatal accident at Gore this evening. When riding over an asphalt footpath his horse slipped and fell, throwing Burke to the ground with considerable violence. He was picked up unconscious, his skull being fractured, and he died in a few hours. He was an old resident of the district.
Auckland, hast Night. A fifteen-year-old boy, named Humphries, an inmate of the Children's Home, Remucra, was shot this afternoon by the discharge of a gun, death being instantaneous. It appears that boys found a gun in a stable, and, after handling it, placed it against the wall from where it fell, going off when it struck the ground, Humphries receiving the discharge in the head. The boy has been in the home five years, and the father resides in the King Country.
