The Wellington l'ost states that large shipments of local butter have been bought in London and are on their way back to New Zealand. Local re-, quireinents will amount to 40,000 boxes) and of this quantity only 2.>,00U aro in store, ami only 10,000 even of this total arc owned by New Zealanders.
I'ALSE REPORTS. Palmerston N., Thursday. The head office of the New Zealand Farmers' Dairy Union indignantly deny the statement of tile Masterton correspondent made by the Dominion that the L'nion had recalled from Home 1700 boxen of butter to meet the shortage in New Zealand, and the further statement that the Union is not making enough butter for local consumption, and that twenty creameries will close down in the
course oi the next two weeks. Mr. Bendall, secretary of the L'nion, states tjiat there is absolutely no truth whatever in the statement.
