ARBITRATION COURT.

SITTING AT WELLINGTON. WHARF LABORERS' CLAIMS. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Arbitration Court at to-day's sitting proceeded with the hearing of the wharf laborers' dispute. The Union Steamship Company, Wellington Harbor Board, and local and foreign-going ship owners were severally represented. Tlie demands of the Union included Saturday half-holiday for all classes ot labor, or overtime pay in lieu thereof; increase of threepence for working, cement, lime, manure, or shale; increase of twopence for handling coal on shovel and top work; increase of sixpence for handling frozen produce in freezing: chambers and threepence in cool chambers; proper accommodation and fares for out ports; payment from time of leaving place of engagement, till returning for men working in the stream. The ■ demands for holidays were practically, the same as the existing award, except

their asking for a special day for picnic, double overtime on Sundays, Christ-, inns Day, Good Friday, and the Union picnic day. Double time was asked for working during meal hours. They also asked for more prompt payment of wages, anil that the weight stipulation should apply to men in the hold as well as on the wharves. Other new features were 1 that the men should be paid overtime for time spent ''standing by" under orders; that payment should be from time of engagement until discharged; in handling beef not less than six men De

employed on a side; that the award, should apply to permanent hands as well as casuals. The representative of the employers handed in a statement showing that they were willing to practically adhere to tlie present award. The case for the Union was not concluded when the Court rose. The bakers' dispute wul probably be taken to-morrow afternoon.
