GOOD TEMPLAR BAZAAR.

St. Mary's Hall was the scene of considerable animation last evening on the occasion of the opening of the Rainbow Bazaar, held under the auspices of the Good Templars of New Plymouth. Prior to the opening of the function the Garrison Band marched down Devon street and thence to the hall to the strains of a lively quick-step. A large number of persons assembled at the hall, the interior of which had been decorated with bunting. Along the sides the stalls are arranged. Each stall is heavily stocked. Mr John C. Legg, District Deputy Grand Chief Templar, presided. In a few wellchosen remarks Mr. H. Okcy, M.P., opened the bazaar, expressing the hope that business would be brisk, and when the temperance hall (for the building of which the bazaar was being held) came

to be built he trusted that a club would be'formed for entertainments, etc. The function was then declared open, and very soon, an army of workers was busily engaged at the several stalls. During 1 the evening Mr. Blnnchett's orchestra rendered an attractive programme of (music Miss Dowling contributed a pleasing violin solo, and Mr W. Lints : gave an exhibition of club-swmging. ! During the evening a letter was received 1 from Lady Plunket regretting not being able to be present owing to other engagements. The following arc stalls and stall-holders:— Supper room: Mrs 'J. Flower stall: Miss M. Connett and Mr. V. Davies. Jumbl e stall: Messrs J. Biggs, N. Johnstone, and A. White. Cookery stall:.Mesd«mcs J. C. Legs?, Buttimore, ami Miss .11. Hopkins. Bran tub: Misses A. Jean? and B. Couuett. Post-card stall: Master Gnnkrodger. Good business was reported last evening. The bazaar will re-open to-day.
