ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. Auckland, Monday. A young man named David Ernest Forest, 19 years of age, committed suicide at Mayfteld in a most determined maimer. He was a carpenter employed at Chelsea Sugar Works. He left his home saying he was going to shoot rabbits. Later his brother found a letter from David stating that he was "going dotty," and intended to put an end to himself. The brother proceeded with his mother to a spot indicated in the letter and found the body with the gun beside it. Deceased had apparently placed the muzzle of the gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. His head was utterly shattered He had spent many sleepless nights. The fear of an operation had preyed on his mind. Wellington, Monday.
Frederick Tucker, ii young man, attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the harbor. When charged in the Court to-day, lie said lie had been in trouble Jor eighteen months, and had ' been driven to despair by new disappointment. He was convicted and discharged and ordered to pay costs. Ghi'istcliurcli. Last Night. Hamilton Shaw, aged 05, was found in a dying condition iu an outhouse in Victoria street to-day, and died while being removed to the hospital. The verdict at, an inquest held to-night wis that death was caused by cardiac failure and chronic Bright's disease. Wellington, Monday. Two tramcars coming from Karori yesterday afternoon collided. Tt is said that the brakes on the back car failed to act. and it was thus precipitated against the other. Some of the passengers were knocked about. About half-a-dozen were injured by ilying pieces' of glass. A little girl named Lyburg received concussion of Hie brain.
