PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD
The ordinary monthly meeting oi' the Parihaka Iload Board was held at Uahotu. Present: Messrs J. Young (chairman), M. Deegan, A. Chapman, J. C, O Korke, P. Willcox, Pungarehu road—Resolved, That the Board's stall' metal about live chains. (Deegan—O'Rorke), Cement. —Resolved, That two tons of cement be procured, tor making pipes. Resignation.—Mr. 11. A. Mills tendered his resignation as clerk and treasurer.—Resolved that the resignation Im- accepted with regret, (ChapmanThe chairman said Mr. Mills had always carried out the work of the Board to the satisfaction of members.
t/pper Waitaka road.—Mr. 11. Claus, R. Warner, and J. C. Cox wrote, asking for 10 chains of metalling.—No funds. Assessor.—Mr. A, Cross agreed to act as Assessor on the Assessment Court, and he was appointed.
le Chili's rates.--An opinion was read from .Mr. Mcßavitl as to the metliod to be adopted in getting rales from the late I'e \\ hiti's properties.—Tiie clerk was directed to communicate w ; lh the Reserves Agent on the matter. Ranger.- T. Conway was appointed tlie Board's ranger. K. Harrison also applied. The boundary is to the mouth ot the Aonui river.
Lower Arawhata road.—Mr. Potter waited ou the Board, and asked what had become of the grant of ,C3O which was made to it some years ago.—No light was thrown on the subject by the members, and it was decided that tiro clerk write to the Public Trustee asking if the grant were made, and when, and how much?—lt was decided to put in a culvert and have a chain and a-half of drain made on this road. Xgariki road.—T. Willcox wrote, stating that he could not complete the contract on the above road.—Resolved, That he be given fourteen days' notice that the Board will complete the work at his expense, (Chairman—Chapman). lhaia road,—The tender of Moiiifc ' Bros, for formation, etc., up to £2 Us per chain was accepted. Clerkshinp—Resolved, That applications be called for the position of clerk and treasurer, to close ou March .'11; applicant to state salary required, and commence duties on April 8. (Willcox —Deegan). iPuniho road.—Mr. Gill waited on the Board re work on the road. —Resolved, That the Public Trustee be written to, asking for the £2OO promised grant. (Willcox—o'R#rke). Mr. T. Harvey was the only candidj ate nominated to fill the vacancy on the Board , and lias been duly elected.
