DAUU I'liODUUii KJii'Utlii'

Messrs. li. (jiillitlis aud daily produce exporters, New i'lymuutli, are in receipt oi llie following market report Hum weir LuiiUoii principals, Alessrs. ililla and Sparrow, anted 31st January. KHJS:

TIII I weather is seasonable. hut considerable Jojjs were experienced in ihe early pail ol the week. \ rry high prices are being made loi all tion* oi butter. Thi* is to a leut brought about owing to the big retailer-, making builer their "lighting" article*, and we kuuw ui ea>e?i wlwre libs ami 12Uft have l»eeii paid ioi colonial butters, ami the goods retailed at <> \k\ Hi. Ine demand in this way has kept up K) it- lull limit. On the oilier hand, the total imports into tlie United Kingdom are showing a deerea.se week by week as compared with last year, so that we see nothing to prevent higher prices being made until supplies overtake demand. Danish: There is a brisk demand, and all arrivals are cleared as soon a*, landed. Price* have been linn throughout the week, and yesterdiy t'npenhagon advanced two kroner* -Jd) with t possibility of a further rise ne\t week. Siberian: There have been no arrivals this week, as considerable quantities are delayed by snow blockade. Owing to the scarcity of other descriptions oi under-priced butter, the delay with Siberian has made the position very acute and secondary qualities are selling at 2s to 4s below liucst.

French: Market is linn, with the po*. sibility of higher rates for next week. Supplies continue light. American: The high prices have had Uio effect of bringing over some underpriced goods, and quite ordinary qualities are being sold at 108s to litis. As there is nothing else on the market, buyers have to take theiu.

Australian: The butters that arrive*, this week per s.s. Ortona were rapiaiy absorbed at gradually improved prices. The demand is so strong that higher rates will be made next week, and we should not be surprised to see all previous price records for colonial butter for the month of February broken in the next two or three weeks. Unsalted is now making the same price as salted. New Zealand: There has been no fresh a'rrival tbiß week, but the Tongiriro is docking to-morrow. The butters ex Mamari realised up to 120s, but As

to Cs more is being asked for the Tong-i

riro's. and we have no doubt but thai these prices will be made. J'lie butters are absorbed as soon as they arc landed. Cheese—This department is dull, and very little business has transpired during the week. In order to make sales Is ]>er cwt has occasionally to be conceded to buyers.
