Napier, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day John AlcKenzie was convicted ami sentenced to eighteen months'" imprisonment for perjury. A civil action, the Olliciai Assignee v. Williams and Kettle, 1.ti1., was heard and judgment reserved. This was a case of some importance to si m .k agents, the claim being for the re-pa vment of the proceeds of a sale of cattle by the defendant company, acting under instructions from 11. <i. Harding, who was subsequently made a bankrupt. For the plaintiff it was contended that the cattle were the propery of Harding, and the proceeds of the property belonged to till' bankrupt's creditors. The ueiendants' case was that a letter of instruction from Harding gave theni the right to dispose of the cat 11- as security for payment of his acount, and to credit his account with the proceeds, which was done.
