Proffs-ior l'icken, the new professor of mathematics and mathematical physics at Victoria College, arrived last night by the Rimutaka from London. On Wednesday last', at the Waihi Presbyterian Church (Auckland), Mr. Ernest Johns, erstwhile of New Plymouth, was married to Miss Ivy Kirker, of Waihi. The bride was beeomingiy dressed in cream silk, trimmed with fiilet net, Valenciennes lace and passementerie trimmings. The bridesmaids were Miss Ida Roberts (New Plymouth), in white muslin with embroidery trimmings and white lull trimmed with chiffon, Mis? M. Worth and little Miss l'earlie Neville, each of whom wore pretty gold brooches, (he gift of the bridegroom, who was supported by Mr. Fred. Williams as best man and Mr. Ijeslie Johns as groomsman. Amongst visitors from a distance were Mrs. A. J. Johns, of Masterton. and Mrs. J. Roberts, of New Plymouth, mother and aunt respectively of the bridegroom. The honeymoon is being spent in the Masterton district. Dr. and Mrs. Wohlmanu. of the Rotorna Government Sanatorium, are at present in New Plymouth on a short visit, and arc staying at the White Hart Hotel. Yesterday Dr. Wohlmann indulged in a hot salt-water bath at the municipal baths, with a view to determining for himself the particular properties claimed for salt-water washing along these ironsand shores. We understand that his experience has, if anything, further increased the high opinicm previously formed by tins authority on the properties of the water.
