PERSONAL.
•Mr. C. W. Bcnbow, father of Mr. C. A. Benbow, manager at New Plymouth of the A.M.P. Society, died at Wellington on Mondya .at the age of U6. The fast diminishing ranks of the old Taranaki veterans has been further depleted by the death of Mr. Samuel
Allan. He came to the colony, as a boy, sixty-six years ago, and passed through all the tips and downs incidental to pioneering and the war days. Although he had been gradually failiug In health for some time, it was only quite recently that he relinquished his shoemaker's bench in Messrs. McEwen Bros.' establishment. The veteran was all his life a keen cricket enthusiast.
